2018 Ford Explorer

2018 Explorer Platinum

The Explorer Platinum's interior awes in its premium Nirvana leather with micro-perforation and quilted inserts, dual-panel moonroof, heated second-row bucket seats, and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel with real wood accents and unique stitching. And its exterior stands out with its satin-chrome finish.

3.5L EcoBoost® Engine

How does the 3.5L EcoBoost generate a best-in-class 365 V6 horsepower plus 350 lb.-ft. of torque? By combining turbocharging and direct injection. This EcoBoost is standard in the Explorer Sport and Platinum.

SYNC® 3/SiriusXM® Radio

SYNC 3 is voice-activated technology that helps you make hands-free decisions. Whether you need directions, to connect and control your smartphone, or just want to change your SiriusXM Radio station, SYNC 3 lets you stay focused on the road ahead.

Seating for Up to Seven

The available PowerFold® third-row seat folds flat at the touch of a button for additional cargo room and a level load floor. In the upright position, it comfortably seats two passengers. Standard on Limited, Sport and Platinum.

Towing and Trailer Sway Control

Building on AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control,™ the standard trailer sway control selectively brakes and adjusts engine power to maintain trailer control. The result is stability and control, even when towing large loads. When properly equipped the Explorer can tow up to 5,000 lbs. The Class III Trailer Tow Package, required for towing, is available for the 3.5L TiVCT engine, and comes standard with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine.

Intelligent 4WD with the Terrain Management System™

Intelligent 4WD with the Terrain Management System is available on Explorer, XLT, Limited and standard on Sport and Platinum, and allows you to shift on the fly into one of four settings to match the terrain. So whether the journey takes you through mud, sand, gravel, grass or snow, you can master it and carry on with confidence and control. The 4WD System also includes Hill Descent Control™ so you can set and maintain a constant speed while traveling downhill.

Curve Control

Curve Control will slow you down as much as 10 mph in approximately one second when it senses that you're going too fast for a particular curve. Employing throttle reduction and four-wheel braking, it's always active in helping you maintain control around curves. Also, it functions on dry or wet pavement and is particularly useful when you're entering or exiting freeway off- or on-ramps too fast. Curve Control, standard on all Explorer models, is an enhancement to AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control.™
